Smithfield

Smithfield Supportive Housing facility offers independent living (each suite has kitchen facilities and stacking washing machine and dryer). The noon meal is included in rent and is the largest meal of the day. Nutritious meals are served buffet-style in order to allow residents to make their own food choices. Diabetic desserts are available. Basic housekeeping service is provided on a weekly basis and includes vacuuming carpets and washing floors, cleaning the bathroom, and a change of linens. Other household chores are the responsibility of the resident.

Smithfield Supportive Housing is a 60-unit structure (built in 2003) and two of these units are designated as twenty-four hour care which enables aging in place for all seniors. This facility does not replace long term care, but does enable couples to live together longer than was previously possible in a typical lodge setting.

The main floor of this building is linked to the Continuing Care Centre and the Westlock Health Care Centre and provides easy access to those special services offered, one of which includes dialysis. Size of rooms range from 488 square feet to 888 square feet. Each suite has wheelchair accessible bathrooms with separate bedroom, and combined living room and kitchen space and two outside windows (one in the bedroom and one in the living room area).

The service and size package varies according to the room size; ranging from $925 – $1325** plus 30% of income to a maximum of $1000.00 for individuals, $1500.00 for couples. Minimum combined service and size package + 30% of income = $1000.00
